How it works

From a forgotten application to one with an owner

Call it a takeover. It is four steps, a fixed price for the first one and a written scope before anything starts.

Step 1: Tell us what you have

Write to us or use the contact form. A few lines are enough: what the software does, who built it, what has happened since. You do not need to know technical terms. If you are not sure what it is called, describe what staff do with it.

We reply by email. We tell you which entry point fits, what it costs and what we would need to see. If something is down right now, we point you to Rescue. If you do not need us yet, we say so.

We work by email and scheduled calls. On the first call, we tell you how AI is used in our work, and we agree the scope in writing before any work starts.

Step 2

The Takeover Assessment: about two weeks

This is the front door. For a fixed price of $3,500 (small) or $7,500 (standard), we:

  • Read the code, the configuration and the hosting setup.
  • Map the system and every account it depends on.
  • Move backups, hosting and access into accounts you own, and set up a repository if none exists.
  • Restore a backup where we can, so we know it works.
  • Write the runbook and documentation that never existed.
  • Price every fix we find.

Details on the Takeover Assessment page.

Step 3

A readout in plain English

You receive a written report and a readout of 45 to 60 minutes. If you prefer, we deliver verbally only, or the engagement can run through your counsel.

The report starts with a one-page summary: what the software is, who supports it today, what breaks if the old vendor stays gone, the top five items in plain English, the total priced fix cost and a 30, 60 and 90 day plan. A technical appendix is separate. See the full outline on What You Get.

You then have 14 days for questions. We send fix and retainer proposals after the readout, not during it, so there is no pressure in the room.

Step 4

Ongoing care, fixes, or neither

Now you decide with facts. You can choose a monthly retainer: Keep-Alive at $2,000 per month, Support Plus at $4,500 or Own-It at $8,500. You can also take the priced list and have us do some fixes and upgrades. Or keep the documentation and the accounts and carry on alone.

If you sign a retainer within 90 days of the report, 100% of the assessment fee is credited toward your first three months, and the $5,000 onboarding fee is waived against credit.

Month to month

What a retainer month looks like

  1. Check. We look at hosting, backups and who has access.
  2. Update. Dependency and patch updates arrive as pull requests that a person reviews.
  3. Fix. Small tickets you send are handled within your plan.
  4. Report. A plain-English note says what we looked at, what changed and what is coming.

Ground rules

How we handle your system

  • AI-assisted, human-reviewed. We tell you how we use AI up front.
  • No production change without your written approval.
  • Every change ships as a pull request or a documented step.
  • Access lives in a credential vault in your name.
  • Your code is deleted within 30 days of the final report unless you are on a retainer.
  • We do not offer security assessments or security testing, and we refer those out.

What we need from you

Less than you might expect. During an assessment we ask for a point of contact who can answer business questions, access to whatever hosting and code exists, and your written approval before we touch anything live. If you do not know where the code or the logins are, that is a normal starting point and part of what we find out.

You do not need a technical person on your side. When we have a question, we put it in plain terms and give you a way to answer it by email. If you do have an IT provider or an internal contact, we are glad to work with them and we keep everyone informed.

How long things take

A Takeover Assessment takes about two weeks from kickoff to readout. A Rescue starts within two business days. A retainer begins as soon as the paperwork is signed, and its first month includes the checks that give us a baseline. Fix projects and upgrade packs are scheduled and priced individually, and retainer clients get priority scheduling.

What if it is already broken?

Start with Rescue. You name the one failure, we start within two business days and restore service for a fixed $4,500. Half of that fee is credited toward a retainer or a fix project within 90 days.

Questions about the process are answered in the FAQ, and every price is on the pricing page.

Tell us what you have

In two weeks we know it, document it, and keep it running. Send a few lines about your software and we will reply by email.
